Stromboli

Stromboli is a volcanic island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, the northernmost in the Sicilian archipelago of the Aeolian Islands. It is formed of a regular cone, an ancient volcanic structure that reaches a height of 926 m above sea level and whose currently active vent is located on the northwestern side, at a height of 750 m. Stromboli is one of the few volcanoes in the world that are in continuous eruption, although its rhythm varies greatly; explosions occur more or less frequently and streams of lava emerge, often flowing down the Sciara del Fuoco and into the sea. Apart from a few small beaches, the coasts are high and steep. The climate is typically Mediterranean.
